NOAH BASS

From a very young age I had been fascinated by knights in shining armor and stories of heroes slaying dragons. throughout my childhood I had tinkered with cardboard, duct tape, foam, and wood in an attempt to equip myself in the arms and armor of the heroes of my imagination.

At 15 I decided I was going to try blacksmithing, so I built a forge out of an old lawnmower and some pipe with a hairdryer as a blower and a chunk of train rail as an anvil. After a couple months of hammering on railroad spikes, I was lucky enough to learn from Roy Miller, a very skilled bladesmith and with his tutelage I made the decision to a pursue metalworking as a career.

I went to trade school for welding and learned a great deal from Joe Curtis my instructor. after welding school, I went out and worked on pipeline jobs as a welder’s helper while still making knives as a hobby, until the guys I worked with found I made them and that’s where I realized that people were willing to buy my work. at that time, I was working off the tailgate of my pickup, but orders were piling in faster than I could handle so I bought an enclosed trailer that I turned into a mobile workshop.

Now I'm blessed to have an actual workshop at my home, and I’ve been afforded the opportunity to do what I love full time. you can see me now at events throughout Oklahoma demonstrating my craft along with the Saltfork Craftsmen

I have always had an interest in medieval Europe and the tools and weapons used in that time. Follow my journey of learning and discovering methods new and old to recreate the implements of our predecessors and potentially improve on their works.
